CBSE Class XII results: Delhi improves to 91.87%

The Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) highest governing body on Tuesday has approved a proposal of restoring the Class 10 board exams. The unanimous approval will pave the way for return of public exam at the end of secondary education after a gap of seven years.

The first exam will be conducted in March 2018 and the weightage division will be 80% Board-based and 20% internal assessments.

The decisions, took at a meeting of the governing body with its members, still have to be approved by the government.

Moreover, the CBSE also decided to recommend the HRD ministry that the three language formula, under which Hindi, English and a regional language are taught to students from classes 6 to 8, to be extended to classes 9 and 10, India Today reported.

Furthermore, officials recommended that those languages which are listed in schedule VIII of the Constitution should be taught under the three language formula, while languages which are “purely foreign” should be taught as a “fourth language as an elective subject.”

In 2001, the Board made the Class X board exam optional after introduction of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in 2009.
