The most popular festival of Sindhi community, Cheti Chand is celebrated on March 26 this year. The festival is celebrated as the Sindhi New Year and falls on the second day of Navratri according to Hindu calendar.

Sindhi saint Ishtadeva Uderolal, popularly known as Jhulelal was born during this time. The festival is celebrated after Gudi Padwa and Ugadi.

The festival gets initiated through Jhulelal. Water is worshipped on the day, especially in the Sindh province. The festival is observed both by Sindh Muslims and Sindh Hindus.

The possession called Baharana Sahib consists of Jyoti (oil lamp) placed on a pot made of wheat flour, Akha, fruits and cardamom. During the possession Baharana sahib being called the water, God is taken to the river for a bath. Devotees then devour the puja offering or Prasad.
