Assets worth Rs 36 crore of suspended Chhattisgarh IAS official BL Agrawal was attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday. Agrawal was earlier detained by the CBI.

“ED has attached assets worth Rs 36.09 crore under PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act),” an official from the agency said as per a report in HT.

Agrawal was the principal secretary (higher education) in the Chhattisgarh government at the time his arrest on February 21. He along with two others were arrested by the CBI on the account of trying to settle a case being investigated by the central agency against him.

Agrawal had decided to pay Rs 1.5 crore to Syed Burhanuddin- a person hailing from Hyderabad, as a reward for helping him in a pending case, the CBI claimed.
