CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka to Visit Bengal: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced that a delegation led by co-convener Ashutosh Ranka will be heading to West Bengal’s Bankura district after the father of CJP volunteer Shaik Abdul Hafeez died following an alleged assault.
Ranka stated that the team will go to Bengal to stand by Abdul’s family and to seek justice too. In a statement posted online. He mentioned that the CJP would not be rattled or cowed and it will carry on its push for more solid government schools.
What Happened in Bankura?
According to CJP, Abdul Hafeez had visited a government school in his village in Bankura’s Indus block as part of the organisation’s “School Thik Karo” (Fix the Schools) campaign.
The campaign focuses on documenting problems in government schools and pressing authorities to improve infrastructure and facilities. CJP alleges that Abdul was attacked after returning home and that his father, Janab Mafik, sustained serious injuries while intervening. His father subsequently died from his injuries.
The Indian Express reported that the incident occurred on Thursday and that Mafik succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Police confirmed that a person had died, while reports said the investigation and allegations surrounding the assault were still developing.
CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka to Visit Bengal
Following the death, Ranka announced that he and other CJP members would travel to Bankura. In his public remarks, Ranka said the organisation would seek justice for Abdul’s family and would not back down because of alleged intimidation. “We want to fix schools. But BJP goons are spreading violence across the country,” Ranka said in his post.

The delegation is expected to include CJP members Vijay Mallangi, Ankit and Sudhir, along with other party workers, according to the Free Press Journal. Ranka also appealed to CJP supporters in Bengal to reach Indas Police Station in Bankura.
The CJP has maintained that the organisation’s focus is improving government-school infrastructure and ensuring accountability. The group’s leadership has said that the alleged attack will not stop its campaign.
CJP Alleges BJP Link; BJP Rejects Claim
The political dimension of the case remains disputed. CJP leaders have alleged that people associated with the BJP were behind the attack. However, this allegation has not been independently established.
In a social media post on Thursday, CJP legal affairs head Ratna Singh alleged that Abdul and his family were subsequently subjected to further intimidation. She claimed that people had surrounded the family’s house and prevented them from leaving. “The police did not perform their duty to maintain law and order,” Singh said, adding that CJP was providing support to Abdul and his family.
It was reported that Suvendu Adhikari rejected the claim that the assailants were BJP workers, saying the FIR did not identify them as BJP workers. Police have also been examining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
What Is the ‘School Thik Karo’ Campaign?
The incident comes amid the CJP’s nationwide School Thik Karo campaign, in which the organisation is urging people to inspect government schools near them and raise concerns about poor infrastructure.

Ranka said the drive will particularly zero in on rural schoolsbarguing that government schools still remain crucial for kids in villages. He also asked citizens to document the condition of the school and then approach local authorities when changes are needed.
