Bank Holidays in April 2026: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has shared the full list of bank holidays for April 2026. This month has many holidays because of festivals, national days, and also weekends when banks stay closed. Big days like Good Friday and Ambedkar Jayanti are also included, so many bank branches will not open on those days.
Because of this, people should plan their bank visits early. If you need to go to a branch, it is better to check the dates before going. Banks will be closed on many days in different states, so it can be confusing if you do not check properly.
Special Closure on April 1
The month starts with a very important closure on April 1. On this day, banks all over India will not open for customers. This happens because of “Closing of Yearly Accounts.”

This is not a festival holiday. It is a working day for bank staff but not for customers. Bank workers use this time to finish all financial records from the last year. So even though banks are closed for people, important work is still going on inside.

ATM machines will also work, but sometimes they can run out of cash during long holidays. So it is a good idea to take out money one day before if many holidays are coming together. This helps you avoid problems later.
The RBI has different types of holidays like holidays under law, RTGS holidays, and account closing days. Also, some holidays are only for certain states. For example, Garia Puja in Tripura on April 21 is not a holiday everywhere.
