Concacaf Champions Cup Final: After beating Monterrey 1-3 at BBVA Stadium on Wednesday, Columbus Crew secured their place in next month’s Concacaf Champions Cup final.
In the second semi-final, the MLS side won the first leg 2-1 as well, resulting in an aggregate score of 2-5.
In the final, Wilfried Nancy’s team will face five-time winners Pachuca, who beat Liga MX rivals América.
Elections coincide with the final
The final was originally scheduled for 2 June at a venue yet to be determined – possibly Estadio Hidalgo – Pachuca’s stadium, since they have the superior record.

It is possible, however, that the final between Los Tuzos and the Crew could be played on an alternative date due to the Mexican presidential elections.
In the previous four editions, the Columbus Crew were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage, losing to Morelia (2003), Toluca (2010), Real Salt Lake (2011) and Monterrey (2021).

Pachuca are seeking a sixth title and Concacaf has several days to decide where and when the final will be played.
Due to the fact that both teams are the only survivors from their respective Leagues, the game is crucial for them both.
