According to the sources, the Congress Party has issued a gag order to its party members on speaking over the Vijay Gutte directed, The Accidental Prime Minister.

The order come at the time when rumours saying that “Madhya Pradesh government has banned the movie” are circulating over the social media.

Recently, Congress leader, Randeep Singh Surjewara quashed the rumour. In a tweet, he said, “M.P Govt has taken no such decision.”

The trailer of the Anupam Kher starrer came on Thursday. In the movie, Anupam Kher dons the role of the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. The movie is set to hit the theatres on 11 January 2019 and is based on the controversial memoir by Sanjay Baru with the same name.

The movie records the life of economist and politician Dr Manmohan Singh who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.

At the trailer launch of the movie, veteran actor Anupam Kher had been asked if BJP intends to use this movie as an advantage as it is releasing just before the Lok Sabha elections, to which he had said, “Patriotic films release on Independence Day and Republic Day, so we decided that we will release our film around elections, as it is on politics. What’s the problem in that?”
