A Congress leader identified as Mohammad Fakhruddin has been shot dead in Bihar’s West Champaran on Friday afternoon.
Police said motorcycle borne criminals shot at Fakahruddin Khan, a native of Chaudharia village situated in Ramnagar block, when he was standing near a pond leaving him seriously injured. Sources said Khan breathed his last when he was being rushed to primary health centre in Ramnagar.
As per the reports, Fakhruddin was absconding in murder and deterrence case before contesting the elections from the Ramnagar assembly constituency in 2005.
A case has been registered and the body of the deceased has been sent for the postmortem. Police said the motive behind the murder was not immediately known.
