Congress leader RPN Singh resigns from party, likely to join BJP

Senior Congress leader RPN Singh has resigned from Congress party on Tuesday amid reports that he will switch to the BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh election next month.

RPN Singh, a former Union Minister, was the Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge.

“Today, at a time, we are celebrating the formation of our great Republic, I begin a new chapter in my political journey. Jai Hind,” Singh tweeted.

RPN Singh was an MP from the Padrauna constituency of Uttar Pradesh between 1996 and 2009. He later won the Lok Sabha election.
