Congress MLA and former minister, Mahendra Singh Kalukheda dies on Monday at the age of 72. The MLA was admitted in hospital for 21 days. He will be cremated in Kalukheda village on Tuesday.
Along with chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Sitasaran Sharma, leader of opposition Ajay Singh have also expressed grief at his demise.
Kalukheda started his political career from student politics and became MLA in 1972 for the first time. A sixth time MLA, he was also the chairman of the public account committee of the state assembly.
Kalukheda was also an MP in 1984.
In the meantime, tributes poured for the leader. Congress leader, Kamal Nath said he worked sincerely and fairly and he made politics a medium to serve people. Ajay Singh said Congress lost a dignified soldier.
