Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sent a legal notice to historian Ramachandra Guha on Monday for his comment after the murder of Journalist Gauri Lankesh. The noted historian had alleged the killers of Lankesh could be from Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).
Guha had said that the climate of hate and intolerance encouraged by the current government’ was complicit in the killing of Gauri Lankesh.
But then, this is not the first case when Guha and the saffron party are entangled in controversy. Earlier, Guha had alleged that he was receiving threats from the governing party for criticizing BJP and the RSS.
He had tweeted, “Many people/ids sending identical emails warning me to ‘get ready for punishment (sic) by Divine Mahakal’ for being critical of the BJP. I am also warned not to criticise Narendra Modi and Amit Shah who ‘are blessed & divine…chosen one by Divine Mahakal to change the world.”
The sender of such messages also told Guha not to compare Modi with Indira Gandhi and Amit Shah with Sanjay Gandhi.
