Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Congress-AAP seal alliance in Delhi, Haryana

New Delhi: Over the last two weeks, the possibility of an alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress have continued to rise and dip with twists surfacing each day.

According to report, Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to take a final decision on Monday.

The Congress had few days back in a survey had asked its Delhi unit workers to give their view point over the alliance issue through an audio clip released on its mobile app, Shakti.

Earlier, on March 5, the Congress had ruled out aligning with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Lok Sabha elections. “The Congress unanimously has taken a decision that there will be no alliance with AAP. The decision was taken in Rahul Gandhi’s presence and it is final,” Sheila Dikshit had said then.

The key bone of contention between Congress and AAP has reportedly been the number of candidates from each party, while a 3-3-1 formula has been discussed, where both parties would contest on 3 seats and another one going to a neutral candidate, AAP has insisted on having 5 tickets.

Aam Aadmi Party had announced 6 candidates for the Delhi Lok Sabha elections, on March 2. The 7th candidate, Balbir Singh Jakhar’s name for the West Delhi constituency was announced only yesterday.
