Coronavirus live updates: Bihar SDM suspended for issuing vehicle pass to BJP MLA to travel to Kota

The death toll due to the coronavirus pandemic in India rose to 603 Tuesday while the total number of confirmed cases crossed the 18,000 mark to reach 18,985 including 3,259 people who have been treated and discharged.

The death toll due to the coronavirus pandemic in India rose to 603 Tuesday while the total number of confirmed cases crossed the 18,000 mark to reach 18,985 including 3,259 people who have been treated and discharged.

Thirteen new deaths were reported in Gujarat on Tuesday in addition to the six reported earlier today, raising the death toll in the State to 90. Today there were a total of 239 new positive cases of COVID-19, taking the total  to 2178 and 19 deaths.

Today, of the total 19 deaths, 15 deaths were in Ahmedabad, 2 in Surat, and one each in Vadodara and Bhavnagar. Ahmedabad’s total death toll climbs to 53 out of total 1378 cases.

The Bihar Government has suspended SDO of Nawada, Anu Kumar, for granting a vehicle pass to BJP MLA Anil Singh to travel to Kota, violating the rules and regulations of the Bihar Epidemic Act.

In the suspension notification issued by the General Administration Department of the government, the SDO has been charged with giving undue favour to the MLA by issuing the pass. The vehicle pass is to be issued only under special circumstances. The DM of Nawada in his investigation report has found the official to be guilty of not discharging his duty as per the protocol of the government.
