India’s Covid-19 tally crossed the 26-lakh barrier on Monday. As per the latest health ministry numbers, deaths due to coronavirus now stand at 50,921. Globally, the virus has claimed 7 lakh lives.
Five most affected states by total tally of cases are Maharashtra (6,04,358), Tamil Nadu (338,055), Andhra Pradesh (289,000), Karnataka (226,966), and Uttar Pradesh (152,580).
The National Expert Group on vaccine administration met leading domestic vaccine makers on Monday to discuss the road ahead for the development of indigenous Covid-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, Biocon executive chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw yesterday said that she had tested positive for coronavirus.

Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases, flight movements at the Goa airport increasedalmost 12 times last month as compared to April this year, according to the Airports Authority of India. It said this is a sign of normalcy returning at the Goa airport, located at the INS Hansa base in Vasco town.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Monday posted a chart on its Twitter handle, showing 27 flight movements at the Goa airport in April this year, followed by 59 in May, 265 in June and 318 in July. "AAI's Goa Airport @aaigoaairport saw steady rise in flight movement since Apr'20. From 27 flights in Apr to nearly 12 times that no. in Jul these are signs of normalcy returning. In the wake of #COVID19, we aim to bring Indian Civil Aviation back to normal, as soon as possible," AAI said in the tweet.

With India reporting 55,079 cases and 876 deaths in the last 24 hours, the total number of coronavirus cases in India Tuesday rose to over 27 lakh (27,02,743)including 51,797 deaths, 6,73,166 active cases and nearly 20 lakh (19,77,780) recoveries, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Pune has more Covid-19 cases than Mumbai. On Monday, Pune had 1.32 lakh cases while Mumbai had 1.29 lakh infections. However, its death toll is half of Mumbai's. While Pune has reported 3,247 deaths, Mumbai has 7,173 deaths.
