On Wednesday, a resident from Mizoram temporarily living in Guwahati was tested positive of COVID-19 at GMCH (Guwahati Medical College Hospital). Minister of Health Pijush Hazarika confirmed the news with Pratidin Times a news organisation from Assam.

The patient as of now is admitted at Zoram Medical Hospital in Mizoram and is under surveillance.

Yesterday a 23-year-old from Manipur with a travel history from the UK was tested positive.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has imposed a nationwide lockdown in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The restrictions came into force at midnight local time and will be enforced for 21 days.

“There will be a total ban on venturing out of your homes,” Mr Modi said in a televised address. He appealed for people not to panic – but crowds quickly mobbed stores in the capital, Delhi, and other cities.
