Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has tested positive for coronavirus. He has been admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati hospital.

Fresh infections crossed 27,000 for the first time, the third record high in daily numbers in the past three days. Total Covid-19 infections in India rose to 8,21,722, as per data from state governments.

The Delhi government has decided to cancel all upcoming semester and final year exams in all the state government-run universities due to the Covid-19 situation, said Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today. “In light of the major disruptions caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, Delhi govt has decided to cancel all Delhi state university exams including final exams,” he wrote on Twitter along with a video message.

New cases of Covid-19 rose by nearly 69,000 across the United States on Friday, according to a Reuters tally, setting a record for the third consecutive day as Walt Disney Co. stuck to its plans to reopen its flagship theme park in hard-hit Florida.

California announced on Friday the state will release up to 8,000 inmates early from prisons to slow the spread of COVID-19 inside the facilities.

Jharkhand: CM Hemant Soren and wife tests negative for coronavirus

Amid the rising number of corona-infected persons in Jharkhand, state chief minister Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren's samples were collected for coronavirus testing today. The chief minister is already in home quarantine. An official of the chief minister's office (CMO) said the samples of police officials and personnel working in the CMO, including the CM's security adviser Abhishek Prasad and senior emergency secretary Sunil Srivastava, have also been collected for examination.

Indonesia Reports 1,671 New Coronavirus Cases

Indonesia reported 1,671 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, bringing the total count to 74,018, Health Ministry official Achmad Yurianto said. Fatalities from the virus rose by 66 on Saturday, bringing the total tally to 3,535, he said, while 34,719 people have recovered.

The Sikkim government has decided to allow only those security personnel to enter the Himalayan state who test negative for coronavirus, a senior health official said. Big cities in Maha, MP go for lockdown again

A 10-day total lockdown in two phases will begin from the midnight of July 13 in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporation limits, the cantonments and 22 villages bordering the civic areas. “There will be a strict lockdown for the first five days, i.e. midnight of July 13 till 18,” Pune divisional commissioner, Deepak Mhaisekar, said. Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra announced complete lockdown across the state on Sundays.
