India on Friday witnessed the biggest single-day spike of 17,296 in total cases. The country’s total count of cases has soared to 491,170, while its Covid-19 death toll has reached 15,300. Delhi recorded 3,390 fresh coronavirus cases today, taking the Covid-19 tally in the city to 73,780. Several experts have reasoned that the aggressive Covid testing is behind the spiralling of cases in Delhi.

The total number of confirmed virus patients have risen to 1,47,741 after 4,841 more patients tested positive in Maharashtra in the last 24 hours. A central team, led by Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry Lav Agarwal, will visit Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana between today and June 29 to coordinate with state officials in strengthening Covid-19 management efforts in those areas, the ministry said on Thursday.

Worldwide, at least 9,701,562 people have been confirmed to have coronavirus infections, more than 5,254,966 have recovered, and more than 490,978 people have died, according to Worldometer.

30 Covid-19 cases in Puducherry; tally climbs to 534

Puducherry registered 30 fresh Covid-19 cases on Friday, pushing the tally of those infected with the virus in the Union Territory to 534. 

Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao told reporters that the 30 new cases were identified after testing 590 samples during the last 24 hoursending 10 am on Friday.

Odisha: 218 new Covid-19 cases; tally crosses 6,000

Odisha's Covid-19 tally on Friday crossed the 6,000-mark, with 218 more people, including seven NDRF personnel, testing positive for the infection, a Health Department official said. 

With these fresh patients, the total number of coronavirus cases in the state rose to 6,180, he said.

China reports further decline in new virus cases

China reported a further decline in newly confirmed cases of the coronavirus on Friday, with 13 cases.Eleven were in Beijing, where mass testing has been carried out following an outbreak that appears to have been largely brought under control. The other two cases were brought by Chinese travelers from overseas, according to the National Health Council.No new deaths were reported and 389 people remained in treatment for Covid-19, with another 107 in isolation. Case numbers both nationally and in Beijing were down from Thursday. China has reported 4,634 Covid-19 deaths from 83,462 total cases.

210 fresh cases raise Covid-19 tally to 5,962 in Odisha; govt plans serology survey

The Odisha government on Thursday decided to launch serology survey to ascertain the immune strength among people against Covid-19, even as the state's coronavirus tally increased to 5,962 with the detection of 210 more cases, a top official said here.The state has planned to start the serological survey at Puri from Saturday, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) P K Mohapatra told PTI.
