The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Fit India Mission teamed up to provide students with live classes on basic exercises, nutrition, yoga and meditation, etc. The live sessions will be available on social media sites: YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. The live classes will begin on April 15 at 9:30 AM.

The sessions will be held for a duration of one month.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said on Twitter today that he has had a dialogue with Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju for collaboration with CBSE to provide students live classes by experts covering topics like Basic Exercises, Nutrition, Yoga & Meditation, boosting immunity, etc.

“The overall objective of these sessions will be to help children stay fit and healthy while pursuing online classes as well as help them to cultivate a sustainable and active lifestyle right from their younger days,” the Board said.

The board requires all its affiliated schools to distribute information among parents, students and fraternity members. The board also said that exercise affects the release and absorption of a good-feeling chemical called endorphin in the brain. Even a short 10-minute physical exercise can actively improve mental alertness, energy and mood.

CBSE said that students can also download these fitness classes and use and spread them at any time in the future.
