After HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ released the new academic calendar of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Thursday, April 16, CBSE is also working to develop a revised or rationalised syllabus for students in classes 9-12.

The decision to modify the syllabus of courses 9 to 12 is to make up for the loss of student learning time due to lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic crisis.

“NCERT has come out with revised activities calender for classes 1-8, CBSE is assessing the situation and loss of time to rationalise syllabus for classes 9-12 and will inform in due course of time,” says CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma late on Friday night.

However, schools were closed and exams postponed at least 10 days before the lockdown was announced. The lockdown has now been extended till May 3.

Since March 24, India has been under lockdown to curb the spread of a coronavirus disease outbreak. However, before the lockdown was announced, the school was closed and the examination was delayed by at least 10 days. Recently, the lockdown has now been extended to May 3.
