Five sports, including cricket and flag football, were approved by the International Olympic Committee executive board on Friday in Mumbai for inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
This week, the LA 2028 Games’ organizers expressed their desire to add cricket, flag football, lacrosse, squash, and baseball-softball to the event.
In accordance with IOC regulations adopted a few years ago, each host city may request the inclusion of multiple sports for their Games.
“These proposals have been accepted as a package by they IOC Executive Board,” IOC President Thomas Bach told a press conference at the end of the executive board meeting.
The IOC session, commencing on Sunday, must now ratify the board’s recommendation.
