CWG 2018 Gold Medallist Manu Bhaker not granted promised reward; takes a dig at Haryana minister about ‘Jumla’

India’s shooting superstar Mannu Bhaker who claimed a gold medal in  Youth Olympic Games 2018 in 10m Air Pistol event, took a jibe at Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij on Friday, asking him to confirm whether the promise of Rs 2 crore cash prize was true or just a ‘Jumla’.

Taking it to her official Twitter account, Bhaker shared a screenshot of Bharatiya Janata Party minister Anil Vij’s tweet where he had congratulated Manu Bhaker for her victorious gold medal in 2018  Youth Olympic Games and even announced that the gold medal winners will get Rs 2 crore cash prize from the state government.

Sharing the captured tweets of Anil Vij, Manu Bhaker wrote, “Sir Please confirm if it is correct… Or just Jumla… @anilvijminister”

Last year, sports minister Anil Vij while congratulating the athletes, had announced a reward of Rs 1.5 crore to the gold winners, Rs 75 lakh for silver medalists and Rs 50 lakh  to bronze medallists from the Haryana government.

Vij had even pin pointed that the earlier Haryana Governments had granted a reward of Rs 10 lakh only to the Gold winners while the present government would grant Rs 2 crore reward.

However, the post shared by shooting sensation Manu Bhaker suggest that the promised rewards has not been given to the winners.

The 16-year-old class 11 student Bhaker earlier grabbed the women’s 10m air pistol gold medal at the 21st Commonwealth Games held in Australia last year. India finished the Commonwealth Games third in the medals tally with 66 medals in total – 26 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze – with shooting being one of the most dominant sports in Gold Coast.
