A daily wager was killed for Rs 50 by another laborer in Bihar’s Araria district. The deceased Md Naushad, 35, and accused Md Intezaar, 30, both were the inhabitants of Mohania village at Palasi block of Araria district.

Reportedly, Naushad owed Intezaar Rs 50 for the past few days. When Intezaar walked up to Naushad’s house on Tuesday and asked for his dues, Naushad said he did not have the money.

Soon, a verbal spat followed between the two leading Intezaar to take his shovel and hit Naushad. Though Naushad was taken to the Palasi primary health centre, he died within hours.

Confirming the occurrence, Araria superintendent of police Sudheer Kumar Porika told HT, “The two relatives had quarrelled over payment of Rs 50. In the heat of the moment, the accused hit the victim on his head with his shovel, leading to fatal injury. The accused has been arrested and the body sent for post-mortem examination.”

Both Naushad and Intezaar used to make Rs 200-400 per day.
