Steyn to Fakhar Zaman, out Caught by Elgar! and he did it. The pace machine of South Africa, Dale Steyn bettered the great Shaun Pollock to become the highest wicket-taker for the country in test cricket.
At one time it seemed like a cake walk but the injury-ridden year meant that the mighty Steyn would have to wait for the end of 2018 to achieve the prestigious feat.
The list which Steyn now tops have the legends of the game in it. Makhaya Ntini with 390 wickets is now third, while Allan Donald with 330 wickets has been pushed to number 4.
Zaman’s wicket also meant that Steyn is now 11th on the list of most wicket takers in Test cricket. Murlidharan who dismissed Pragyan as its 800th scalp remains at the helm of the all-time wicket-takers tally. James Anderson also recently climbed a spot, going past Glenn McGrath, in the series against India and is now the highest wicket-taker among fast bowlers.
