The SUV segment has been the most sought after and is still the most popular segment in India for the last few years, but in December, hatchbacks had a spectacular comeback and the Baleno was the mainstay, followed by Maruti Suzuki’s Swift, which earned 18,767 units and an amazing 80 % growth when compared to December 2024.
Maruti’s compact-car strength was not exhausting with the Wagon R, which is another long-lasting favorite, that also obtained a spot in the top ten with over 14,500 units sold. One of the noticeable trends in December was that, for the first time in many years, Hyundai models were not among the top ten.
