Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman meets IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman at Delhi hospital

India’s Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday met the Indian Air Force Pilot Abhinandan Varthaman after he returned spending two days in Pakistan’s custody.

Sitharaman conveyed the sentiment of Nation, at a Delhi based hospital where he is currently under going treatment.

The official twitter handle of Defence Spokesperson tweeted, “DefenceMinIndia meets the #AirWarrior #AbhinandanVarthaman at his hospital room in Delhi to convey the sentiment of the Nation. Appreciates his impeccable combat skills as well as calmness in adversity. Interacts with the family and the hospital staff too.”

On Friday after the pilot was handed over to the Indian authorities, the Defence Minister had tweeted, “Proud of you Wing Commander #AbhinandanVarthaman. The entire nation appreciates your valour and grit. You held your calm in the face of adversity. You are an inspiration to our youth. Salute. Vande Mataram.”
