Delhi: 17-year-old girl dies after being shot, male friend flees

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her a friend inside a Mercedes car in Najafgarh area of southwest Delhi on Tuesday night. While the weapon was recovered by the police from the spot, the suspect friend called Shubham is still absconding.

According to the Police officials, the incident took place in the evening when the teen was returning home after a lunch with two friends, Shubham and Yogesh from Rajouri Garden. The trio stopped in Dwarka for shopping on the way back.

While the girl, who was a resident of Najafgarh, knew Shubham, it was first time that she was meeting Shubham’s friend Yogesh.

At around 9 pm, when the group reached near to the girl’s house, Yogesh allegedly got out of the car to relieve himself. He then met a friend with whom he began talking when suddenly they heard a gunshot.

When they rushed to the spot, they saw the girl lying in a pool of blood. Shubham already had fled from the spot. The girl’s mother, who was waiting few miles away for her daughter to return home was also allegedly heard the gun shot.

Soon the girl was taken to a nearby hospital in Dwarka where she was declared dead. Allegedly, Shubham had fired at the girl with Yogesh’s licensed gun.

“We have recovered the car and the pistol. We have taken the statements of the eyewitnesses and investigation in on. A case of murder is registered at Najafgarh police station. Efforts are on to nab Shubham,” said deputy commissioner of police (southwest) Surender Kumar as per a report in HT.
