Delhi: 3 burn to death, 2 injured after car collision at Anand Vihar

In a shocking incident reported, three persons were burned to death while two were left injured after their cars collided with each other on Wednesday late evening at Anand Vihar flyway in Shahdara. According to the reports, a Maruti Omni and a Ford EcoSport caught fire following a collision. Both the vehicles were completely burnt.

The SUV which was coming from the opposite direction collided with the van after jumping the divider, the police said. It is yet to be ascertained whether the occupants of the EcoSport were drunk the exact cause of the accident remains unknown.

Passersby and other motorists managed to pull out four of the five occupants of the two vehicles, but two of them died of injuries before they could be rushed to a hospital. A third person, who was pulled out, had been charred to death. A fifth person was trapped inside the van and it took over two hours for his body to be pulled out.

The victims have been identified as 30-yer-old Garv Sehgal, a resident of Krishna Nagar, who was in the Ford EcoSport while the other two were identified as Shamshad, a resident of Mustafabad and Abdul, both of whom were in the Maruti Omni.

One of the injured persons has been identified as Akshay Jain, a resident of Sarita Vihar, who was in the Ford EcoSport at the time of the accident. He sustained severe injuries. The fifth injured man has been identified as Imran who was in the Maruti Omni.
