The town hall which was organised at Constitution Club’s Mavalankar Auditorium was brimming with people that included RWA representatives, senior citizens, and women, among others, from New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.
In the first of his seven town halls scheduled over two weeks, chief minister and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday vowed to make Delhi as clean as Tokyo, London, and Paris in the next five years if voted to power again.
Besides telling AAP’s road map for the future, Kejriwal also talked about his government’s report card listing its achievements it had in the fields of education, health, power, and water, besides the development work carried out in illegal colonies.
AAP Delhi convener Gopal Rai and other MLAs were also present.
Kejriwal also talked about cheaper electricity that is being provided to the people of Delhi. People were getting up to 200 units of free power and Delhi was the only state to have a 24-hour uninterrupted supply. Referring to his role in demonstrations against high electricity bills before AAP formed its government in the city.
Kejriwal also talked about his attainments of having a profitable surplus revenue, He said, “Delhi has a revenue surplus in the last five years. Before that, it was running in losses. We have lowered taxes and the cost of living for the people. We provided the most basic of the amenities for free and we are still in profit,”
Shivendra Mishra , a resident from INA complained that not everyone was getting clean water. “When we formed the government, we found that 2,300 areas were not getting clean water. Now, just about 125 areas don’t get clean water,” Kejriwal said, adding that his government was working on these areas too.
