New Delhi:  A 22-year-old boy not only faked a job proposal from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and certification from Indian Engineering Services but also used it as a means to arrange funds for his upcoming music album. He went around telling people that he could help them get “secure jobs” with DMRC. Instead, he looted them to further his career in music.

The accused, who is Prafull Pachauri popularly known as Honey, was at last arrested by Delhi Police recently. Pachauri had even got an article published in a local newspaper in Uttar Pradesh to gain publicity. His music videos, which is part of Youtube, is sponsored by a well-known music company.

According to Police, Pachauri belonged to Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. DMRC tried to approach the cyber unit of Delhi Police about the fraud. As police started investigations, they got on the trail of emails being sent through a spoofing application, the developer of which they had arrested in the last week of December.

As the probe followed, Pachauri had even gotten a profile of himself published in a local Hindi newspaper, wherein he claimed to have cleared Indian Engineering Services. He also boasted about his songs that had been uploaded on YouTube.

“After the article was published, he used an email spoofer application to send a message to a well-known music company claiming that the newspaper would be the official sponsor for his album. He also showed emails ostensibly received from DMRC and UPSC to claim that he had been selected for the post of a junior engineer with DMRC and also cleared IES,” a police officer said.

To earn a quick buck, Pachauri duped people by promising them jobs in DMRC. He sent them mails using the spoofing application to claim that their jobs had been confirmed.

He had duped at least four people as of now for a whopping Rs 70,000 as told by police. The only child of his parents, Pachauri had indeed completed his electronic engineering from a university in Greater Noida, an officer revealed.

In December, police had arrested a similar kind of fraud known as Rupesh Bhandari who had developed a spoof application in Bengaluru.
