Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben, visited a bank at her village in Gandhinagar to exchange the old notes on Tuesday afternoon.
She was accompanied by her relatives.
She entered the bank premises in a wheel chair, filled the mandatory form, put her thumb impression on the form and exchanged the old money.
After receiving the new Rs 2000 notes, she displayed it in front of the media.
Heeraben lives with Prime Minister’s younger brother Pankaj Modi in Raisan village.
Heeraben’s visit to the ATM had gained mixed responses.
Modi supporters celebrated Heerabai’s visit and encouraged others to stop complaining about the serpentine queues outside the banks.
If 97 y old Heeraben Modi can stand in q then why Kapil Sibal or @ArvindKejriwal or @MamataOfficial can not stand for country?

But, some people criticised the move by saying that Prime Minister is conducting an ’emotion surgical strike’ with the help of his 94 year-old mother. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted

Hitler’s mother died when he was 18. He couldn’t use her for political propaganda. His successor has gone above and beyond him.

96 yr old Heeraben has 6 kids, anyone could have gotten her the 4k. But one of the sons wanted her flashed before media cameras. Sick mind.
