Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi Concert Approved: Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is set to perform at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on October 30, 2026, following the Delhi Police’s clearance to his upcoming concert.
This will be a respite for his fans when the Delhi leg of the Aura India Tour was under question. The show was not given permission initially when police took input of threats and law and order situation due to the festive season. The permission was granted on Friday, 23 October.
“BookMyShow Live”, the organiser of the event, has also assured that the concert will take place as announced.
Why Did Delhi Police Initially Deny Permission?
The band was first refused the concert on October 22, after police based the decision on inputs related to the threat, and the security needs related to the festive season and law-and-order situations.
The report also connected the security check to a hoax bomb-threat email sent to multiple Delhi schools on October 15. In one of these emails, the students were told that they should not go to the concert by Dosanjh. The police have not made public the inputs on the threat.
The decision invites queries from the political leaders. Saurabh Bharadwaj, Delhi chief of Aam Aadmi Party, criticised the rejection earlier. With the clearance of the concert now, it is not a hurdle to conduct the event.
How Did Diljit Dosanjh’s Delhi Concert Get Approval?
After consulting with Delhi Police, the organisers said they submitted a list of detailed guidelines for security, traffic arrangements, crowd control.
BookMyShow Live stated that the concert was not cancelled. Permission was withheld for the concert until the authorities decided to inspect the arrangements. Following the police being told by the organisers that they would meet the conditions that apply, permission was granted.
