Design Inspired by the Original G-SHOCK
The 2500 Series is modeled after the classic DW-5000C first released in 1983, but refreshes its recognizable design language with a modern edge. Octagonal case construction, textured surfaces and tiered dial details aim to strike the perfect balance of ruggedness and modesty.
The design concept is also coined as “Depth in Shadow” where the illumination falls on the watch’s various surface, indexes, and grooved dial features.
The resin models give a more sporty and lightweight aspect and the metal clad models accentuate sharper edges and finishes. This collection is appropriate for wear for everyday occasions, casual type of look and some semi-formal occasions.
What Is the Multi-Mission Date Function?
One of the main features of the new G-SHOCK 2500 Series is the Multi-Mission Date function.
Instead of the 3 o’clock window solely telling the date, Casio has chosen to use that display for a multitude of functions. During normal timekeeping the date will be displayed in this window. During stopwatch use the elapsed minutes will be displayed. It can also be used to set the watch.
Commenting on the launch, Takuto Kimura, Managing Director, Casio India, said, “The 2500 Series marks an important milestone for G-SHOCK in India. As consumer preferences continue to evolve, we see growing appreciation for products that combine strong functionality with thoughtful design and craftsmanship. Inspired by the functional beauty of the original DW-5000C, the collection reinterprets our legacy of toughness through a sophisticated analog design that balances durability, functionality and craftsmanship. With its distinctive form, innovative Multi-Mission Date function and exceptional readability, the 2500 Series offers a compelling expression of G-SHOCK’s commitment to creating watches that are both resilient and refined for today’s consumers.”
The new system allows the watch to have a fully automatic calendar of the date once the correct date has been set including the leap-year cycle. The watch, so, boasts a number of useful features without a conventional digital indication.
