On Monday, Dimple Yadav, the Samajwadi Party’s candidate for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha byelections, filed her nomination papers.
Dimple filed four sets of nomination papers, accompanied by SP president Akhilesh Yadav, SP MP Prof Ram Gopal Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and others.
Shivpal Singh Yadav was conspicuously absent from the event.
Alok Shakya, the SP district president and one of her proposers, accompanied her to the collectorate as well.

Previously, she performed puja at her Saifai home and paid a visit to late Mulayam Singh’s’samadhi.’
Dimple Yadav’s candidacy is seen as an attempt by the SP to carry on the legacy of her father-in-law Mulayam Singh Yadav on the seat, which has been considered a stronghold of the party since 1996. Her selection is also seen as an attempt to bring party cadres together ahead of the byelection.
The by-election for the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat is scheduled for December 5, with the results expected on December 8.
Mulayam Singh Yadav’s death on October 10 left the Mainpuri parliamentary seat vacant.
