On OTT platforms like Netflix and Prime Video, profiles have been one of the best features. These are distinct sections for each user that differentiate content based on their viewing history. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have this feature, but Hotstar lacked it previously.
The company has finally considered customer feedback and confirmed that the product will be available soon. A few account holders in India are now receiving the profile feature. Users are now receiving a pop-up on their accounts that reads “More Profiles are coming soon,” confirming that the feature is currently being tested and will be available to more users in a few days. A user is permitted to create up to seven profiles on a single account, as specified by the company. Soon, additional information about the feature will be revealed.

How Do I Create My Hotstar Account?
According to the official Hotstar support page, only Android app version 22.11.21.2 users can create a profile. Here are the steps to creating a Disney+ Hotstar profile.
- Open Disney+ Hotstar app.
- Navigate to My Space and click the ‘+’ Add Profile button.
- Add a profile name and a picture or Avatar to your profile.
- Next, configure the content to your liking.
- Once complete, click Save to generate a new profile.
- Note that you cannot delete the primary profile, which is the profile of the account’s owner. Once set, the contents cannot be modified.
Multiple Subscribers Leave Hotstar
In India, Disney+ Hotstar is experiencing a precipitous decline in its subscriber base. According to the company, its member base decreased from 61.3 million to 57.5 million in the quarter ending December 31, 2022. It indicates that the company lost nearly 3,8 million paid subscribers, its largest quarterly subscriber base decline ever.
Numerous critics hypothesise that this is due to the company’s loss of the rights to stream IPL tournaments from 2023 to 2027, which contributed significantly to its revenue. Viacom 18 has acquired the rights to live stream the IPL 2023 on the Jio Cinema app.
