DMK Supremo M. Karunanidhi readmitted to Chennai’s Kauvery hospital

DMK Chief and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi admitted in the Kauvery hospital due to his fragile health condition in Chennai on Thursday night. This is the second time in a month that the former chief minister was  hospitalised.

“Dr.Karunanidhi was readmitted with breathing difficulty due to throat and lung infection, he is stable and being treated,” said the Kauvery Hospital in an official statement.

Kanimozhi, Karunanidhi’s daughter and Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu said that his health was getting better. “He (Karunanidhi) had some lung infection and breathing difficulty, but he is much better now,” said Kanimozhi.

Earlier this month, Karunanidhi had been admitted in Kauvery hospital for ‘optimisation of nutrition and hydration,’ as said by the hospital in the statement. The hospital then said that DMK the chief was being examined by a team of doctors and he was scheduled to stay in the hospital for a few days.

Karunanidhi was discharged on December 7, after a week of treatment.

“All his vital signs and biochemical parameters have normalised now. He has been advised rest and Cauvery Hospital will continue to assess and provide the necessary medical and nursing care to facilitate his recuperation at home,” the hospital had said then.
