In a shocking revelation, the DNA sample of the newborn of the 10-year-old Chandigarh rape victim does not match with that of the rape accused, the victim’s uncle, suggests forensic report.

This shock came after the report was submitted to the Punjab and Haryana Court. The new development compelled the police to probe the case further.

After the 10-year-old had complained of stomach pain in July 2017, a medical examination was done that disclosed that she was six months pregnant. Soon, the police had filed a FIR against her maternal uncle for having sexually abused her for months on the basis of statement by the girl and her mother.

Although the family wanted the foetus to be aborted, the advanced stage of pregnancy became a hurdle. The family approached the Supreme Court seeking abortion, but their plea was rejected.

The girl delivered a baby on 17 August.  But after a DNA test was conducted on the maternal uncle, the results brought the investigation to a standstill.

The girl will record her statement once again before the District Magistrate on 15 September.
