Doctor Who Series 14: Grab your sonic screwdrivers, locate the nearest police phone box and get ready for adventures across time and space: that’s right, Doctor Who is finally back for a new season.
In May, Doctor Who will return with a whole new look, and a whole new Doctor. Ncuti Gatwa will debut alongside Millie Gibson as his companion Ruby Sunday.

Doctor Who Series 14: What is the release date?
It’s not too long. BBC iPlayer will release the first two episodes in the early hours of Saturday, May 11; they’ll then be broadcast on BBC One that night just before Eurovision.
Thereafter, episodes will air weekly on Saturdays, and for those overseas, they will be available on Disney+.
How does the plot unfold?
So far, not a lot. The trailer teases adventures across several time periods, but no clue as to what the overall storyline will be.
There are hints in the trailer that the Doctor and Ruby will explore Abbey Road and meet the Beatles; they’ll take part in courtly dramas during the Regency era (complete with wigs and waistcoats), and Ruby will even visit the dinosaurs, in which she appears to transform into an alien after stepping on a butterfly.
There’s also ominous disaster on the horizon: a ruined London, lots of monster-escaping, as well as Ruby’s mother Carla Sunday (Michelle Greenidge), saying “I need to know she’ll be okay. Will you keep her safe?”?”
The Doctor replies, “I promise to keep her safe.”. Of course, if there’s one thing we know about him, it’s that he can’t always keep his promises.
Doctor Who Series 14: What’s the cast like?
It has two leads: Scottish-Rwandan actor Ncuti Gatwa plays the Doctor and Gibson plays Ruby Sunday – the foundling whose past is still a mystery.
