Assam Congress leader Bhupen Kumar Borah has officially confirmed his resignation from the party, though he declined to specify the reasons for his departure. Borah assured the media he would elaborate on his decision when he deemed it necessary, hinting at internal party issues as the motivation behind his exit.
Specifically, Borah pointed to the internal decision-making process, mentioning the Behali episode and expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of clarity about participation in the Majuli yatra. He felt these issues signaled deeper problems that required scrutiny for the party’s future.
Reactions to Borah’s resignation emerged swiftly, with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma portraying it as indicative of the Congress’s deteriorating position in the state. Sarma’s comments underscored the party’s internal challenges and predicted further resignations amidst shifting political allegiances.
