Aurangabad: A 17-year-old teenager was crushed to death by a speeding train in the Mukundwadi area on Friday as he was walking on the railway track with his headphones plugged on his ears.

The deceased teenager has been identified as Priyansh Shamraon Kale who hails from Rajmata Nagar in Rajnagar of Mukundwadi area. He was a first-year student in a junior college. Following the incident, he was rushed to the Government Medical College and hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police reveal that the boy used to help his father on their grocery-cum-stationary shop and as per his daily regime, he opened the shop in the morning and left for home when his father came to the shop in the evening.

The boy has not taken the usual route and had taken the short cut. He was walking along the railway track with his headphones plugged into his ears. Priyansh was so engrossed in the cellphone that he couldn’t hear the honking of the train. The onlookers said that after observing him fully engrossed in the cellphone, they tried to alert him but to no avail.

An eye witness of the incident said that when the boy felt the tremors on the railway track on which he was walking, he turned back and saw the train coming. Before he could jump out of the track, he was hit by the speeding train that was going towards Jalna and he died on the spot.
