EPFO 3.0 launch: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation is ready to bring its new digital system called EPFO 3.0 in 2025. This platform is being made for more than eight crore workers across India and it will make provident fund services faster, easier and more open.

The government has already chosen big IT companies like Infosys, Wipro and TCS to work on this project. Once everything is ready, people will be able to use many new features like withdrawing PF money directly from ATMs, using UPI to get instant access to funds and even settling claims in real time.

EPFO 3.0 launch: New features for employees

One of the biggest changes will be the option to take out provident fund money at an ATM just like normal cash withdrawal. For this, workers will have to activate their Universal Account Number and link Aadhaar with their bank account. This will help people when they need urgent cash without waiting for long.

The platform will also allow people to use UPI for withdrawals. This means they can get their money instantly without paperwork, almost the same way we use digital wallet apps. Claims will become easier too. Members will be able to submit and check their claims online, and also update their details like name, birth date or phone number through OTP verification.

The new system is also going to give relief to families in case of a member’s death. EPFO has made claim rules simpler and families will not need to show guardianship papers for minors anymore.

Another big part of EPFO 3.0 is the new digital dashboard. It will give employees one clear space where they can see their balance, contributions and claims status in real time. The interface will be simple and user friendly so that people don’t need to run to offices for small updates.

Other reforms

The platform was first supposed to launch in June 2025 but it got delayed because of technical testing. Authorities are still working on fixing the problems and they said the delay is only to make sure the system runs safe, accurate and without errors when it finally goes live.

EPFO has already started some reforms before this big launch. Employees can now finish KYC using Aadhaar instantly. Name or birth date corrections can be done online and PF transfers during job changes are much simpler because of the Universal Account Number system.
