EPFO Aadhaar–UAN Linking Deadline: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation has clearly said that it will not give any more extra time for linking Aadhaar with the Universal Account Number after 31 October 2025.
EPFO Aadhaar–UAN Linking Deadline
A new circular came out on 1 December 2025, and it says the deadline is final. A Mint report shared this update. The EPFO now wants all employers and workers to finish the linking process before the date so they can file their Electronic Challan-cum-Return without any trouble.

Aadhaar–UAN Link Needed
The rule to link Aadhaar with UAN first came into place on 1 June 2021. This link helps workers move their PF money when they change jobs. A UAN is a 12-digit number that every salaried worker gets to handle their PF account. The link makes it easy to transfer PF online without waiting or doing paperwork.
Over the years the EPFO gave several extensions so people had enough time to finish the linking. One of the latest extensions gave more time till 31 October 2025 for some groups in the North East Region and for workers in industries like construction and beedi work.
But now the EPFO says it cannot delay this any longer. The organisation said that most linking work is already done and only a small part is still pending.

the EPFO said, “Current pendency is marginal and continues to decline steadily. In view of the above, and to prevent further dependency on recurring extensions, it has been decided not to grant any further extension.” Employers must now make sure that every worker’s Aadhaar number is linked and verified with their UAN.
Firms has to Follow new Rules Before ECR Filing
From November 2025, the EPFO will only accept ECR filings for workers whose Aadhaar is already linked with their UAN. This means companies cannot delay the process anymore. The EPFO has asked all its zonal and regional offices to run strong awareness drives so that employers understand the rule and finish the work on time.
