Consumer interest in electric vehicles (EVs) is rising rapidly across India, with online searches for EV-related services and infrastructure witnessing sharp growth over the past year, according to new data released by local search platform Justdial.

An analysis comparing search volumes between February 2024–January 2025 and February 2025–January 2026 shows significant year-on-year increases across multiple EV-related categories. The data highlights growing consumer awareness around electric mobility, charging infrastructure, vehicle purchases, and battery technologies.

At the national level, searches for electric vehicle charging stations recorded a sharp 127 per cent increase, indicating accelerating demand for charging infrastructure and easier location discovery for EV users. The surge reflects growing readiness among consumers as India’s electric mobility ecosystem continues to expand.

Among major cities, Delhi recorded a 98 per cent increase in searches for EV charging stations, followed by Mumbai with an 82 per cent rise and Pune with a 38 per cent increase. The strong growth in metro cities points to rising urban momentum around EV adoption and supporting infrastructure.

Interest in electric vehicle dealers also showed notable growth. Searches in this category rose 40 per cent across India, suggesting increasing consumer intent to explore EV purchase options. Delhi again led the trend with a 51 per cent rise in searches for EV dealers, indicating strong demand in the capital for electric mobility solutions.

Beyond vehicle purchases and charging access, consumers are also showing increasing curiosity about EV technology itself. Searches related to EV batteries and power systems grew 96 per cent nationwide, highlighting greater awareness around energy storage, battery performance, and the technical ecosystem supporting electric vehicles.

The data suggests that EV adoption in India is not only being driven by policy initiatives and rising fuel costs but also by growing consumer awareness about infrastructure and technology. Increased searches for charging stations and battery systems reflect a shift from simple curiosity to more informed exploration of the EV ecosystem.

Justdial, which provides local search services across multiple platforms including desktop websites, mobile apps, voice-based services, and SMS, analysed millions of user searches to track these trends. The company’s platform allows users to discover local businesses, services, and infrastructure, making it a useful indicator of emerging consumer behaviour across sectors.

The rising EV search momentum signals a broader shift in India’s mobility landscape, with consumers increasingly exploring electric alternatives as the country continues its transition towards cleaner transportation.
