Amid the ongoing ruckus across country over the recently amended Citizenship Act, several social media campaigns have been running to garner public vote in either support or against CAA.

From offers of “100 percent guaranteed” jobs to promises of free Netflix subscriptions and mobile internet data to discounts on premium watches and private hot chats, several accounts on Twitter are baiting users to register people’s endorsement for the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act 2019.

Recently, a post shared by Twitter user, Muralikrishna, has gone viral.  He was giving away free Netflix subscription for upto 6 months. His tweet read, “Want free Netflix subscription for 6 months? This tweet garnered over 8.4k retweets and over 22.5k likes and also led to a meme fest on Twitter. As the post started spreading and netizens started retweeting it, it caught the eye of Netflix India.

The streaming giant denied it was offering free six-month subscriptions to users who would dial a phone number being circulated on micro-blogging site Twitter. “This is absolutely fake. If you want free Netflix please use someone else’s account like the rest of us,” Netflix tweeted in reply.
