Faith in humanity restored: These Muslim youths from Thane have done an exemplary job

Waman Kadam, a 65-year old man when died yesterday there was no one except his wife to perform his last rites. Eight Muslim youths then took the initiative of preparing Kadam’s funeral, resident of Mumbra, mostly Muslim populated suburb of Thane district.

The Muslim youths are now earning plaudits for carrying out the funeral rites of a Hindu man. The gesture did not go unnoticed, with Mumbra-Kalwa NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad saluting them in a Facebook post. They were also lauded by residents of Muslim dominated Mumbra.

The youths purchased all necessary ritualistic items like bamboo, rope, earthen pots, incense sticks as well as cloth and a thatched mat. They carried Kadam’s body to the crematorium at around 3 AM and performed the last rites.

The youths who did this exemplary job were Khalil Pawne, Fahad Dabir, Nawaz Dabir, Rahil Dabir, Shaban Khan, Maqsood Khan, Farooque Khan and Mohammad Kasam Shaikh.
