Chennai: Fake offer letter to work in Metro Rail costs brothers huge sum of money

Chennai: Fake employment agencies have taken a toll over Chennai especially amongst the unemployed youth. One such incident happened where two brothers have registered a complaint when they were conned of Rs 1.4 lakhs.

According to the complaint, Nizam Moideen from Viyasarbaadi, North Chennai, along with his brother received a message from an unknown number regarding employment in Chennai metro with a payroll of Rs 18,000 per month.  When he called back on the number, they asked them to submit passport size photos, relevant documents and resume to an email id.

Both of them sent their documents and got a call again, and then they got to know that they were selected for the job on a senior officer rank with a salary of Rs 28,000 per month. They were asked to pay training fees of Rs 4500 per head for 15 days in a private saving account.

Nizam paid the money and received offer letter through a private courier within a week. Later they were called again to pay Rs 26,500 per head as processing fees and yet again asked for Rs 75,000 for some reason, which they paid.

When again Nizam was asked to pay Rs 4 Lakh, he got suspicious about the matter and went to inquire from the metro rail directorate in Koyembedu and it was then he came to know that the letter offered to them were fake.

The duo decided to register a complaint against the matter to the commissioner to get their money back and save others from falling into the prey.
