Abdul Karim Telgi, a convict in the counterfeit stamp paper scam, received special treatment in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru, Karnataka, says a report by DIG (Prisons) D Roopa. Reportedly, Telgi received body massage from several convicted prisoners allotted to him.

Telgi is also said to be infamous for using phones in jail.  A special investigation team tapped a call to trace the extent of fake stamp paper racket during 2002-03. The racket, likely to be worth billions of rupees, led Telgi getting sentenced in 2007 to 30 years.

The counterfeit stamp paper that Telgi and his agents used were allegedly sold to banks, insurance companies and brokerage firms.

The same report by the DIG (Prisons) has also stated that Sasikala, convicted in the disproportionate assets case, paid bribe of Rs 2 crore to get special treatment like a kitchen just for her.
