With the Lone Star Card, you can usually get your SNAP benefits in one or two days.

People with SNAP can buy food and plants to grow their own at a lot of grocery stores, convenience stores, and farmers’ markets.

Using the Lone Star Card, you can purchase items at participating farmers’ markets for 50 percent off.

SNAP funds, however, cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco, non-food items, vitamins, medications, or food that is consumed on the premises.

Texas SNAP benefits are available to who?

They can get SNAP if they are a legal immigrant child under 18 years old, a disabled person, or a warrior and their dependents.

People who aren’t eligible for SNAP can still apply for those who are.

The most money that can be used is $5,000. This does not include the house or the first $15,000 of a car’s value.

Able-bodied adults without dependents, working fewer than 20 hours per week and not participating in a work program are eligible to receive SNAP for three months every three years.

To qualify for SNAP, non-citizens or those who aren’t legal permanent residents must wait five years or earn 40 work credits. Their children may be eligible without proof of residency.
