On its first day of commercial operations, more than 500 passengers were stuck inside the second Lucknow Metro train on Wednesday morning.

It was stuck for over an hour at the Mawaiya’s special span. Light and air conditioner went off due to technical problems.

Even the Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) team took a long time to understand the defect. It took 20 minutes for the rescue team to reach the spot. Officials said that the train bears some fault in its traction.

The passengers were panicking due to high temperature, no air conditioner and water. There were many who wanted to catch a flight and were travelling in a metro for the first time. But they panicked as they thought they may miss their flights.

LMRC team appealed to the passengers not to panic and cooperate till the time the second train reaches for rescue. The team is sending a second train at the spot to rescue the stuck passengers. It said that the other trains have been launched on the second track and are running normally, only one train has been found faulty.
