The official rainfall season starts from June 1 to September 30. The monsoon has now covered nearly half the country and is expected to progress further to the central and western parts this week. Whilst, the monsoon has advanced to more parts of Maharashtra, including remaining parts of Marathwada and Vidharbha.

Monsoon tracker and weather predictions for Mumbai

According to private weather forecasting agency SkymetWeather, the southwest monsoon has quickened its pace and has now reached further areas of Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra.

The maximum temperature recorded in Mumbai on Sunday was 33 degree Celsius. Despite irregular showers, there has been a two-week delay in monsoon arrival in the city and other areas of north Konkan. This has been the longest the city has waited for rainfall since 2009.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to range from 33°C to 26°C for the next 48 hours in Mumbai.

Monsoon tracker and weather predictions for Delhi

Delhi and its adjoining region are also likely to receive moderate rain today, the weather forecasting agency predicted. The minimum and maximum temperatures of the national capital will hover around 26 degree Celsius and 34 degree Celsius with generally cloudy sky.

Rough sea conditions are likely to prevail over southwest and west central Arabian Sea. The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into these areas.

Up North, mercury in the national capital is likely to drop owing to light rainfall, easterly winds, and a western disturbance. Moisture-laden easterly winds are moving towards Delhi while western disturbance is also affecting weather activity in the hills and the northern plains. The Met Department, meanwhile, has issued fresh yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Himachal Pradesh till Tuesday.

Himachal Pradesh is set to brace rain and thundershower for the next 4-6 hours Tuesday. Rain and thundershowers with gusty winds will affect over Bilaspur, Baddi, Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur, Solan and Una during next 4-6 hours, Skymet weather reported.
