Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath writes letter to PM seeking assistance for migrants amidst coronavirus lockdown

Coronavirus has caused a lot of havoc in the nation. Apart from the havoc that has been caused in terms of the infections that have crossed the 1200 mark and death toll inching towards 30. There is a widespread migrant exodus happening in the country. With some experts even terming the widespread exodus as one of India’s large scale migrations ever seen in history except for partition, the workers fear that they would die of hunger.

Several relief measures have been promised by the centre including a relief package that the centre has promised to the migrant workers.

A lot of state governments have promised that they would assist the migrants. Recently Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal told the workers that he would take care of their daily requirements and that the migrants do not have to worry as their daily requirements will be met by the government.

A lot of migrants fearing their subsistence is in danger that’s why they have started walking on foot to their hometowns.

A lot of controversies have also come up in states of Kerala and Uttar Pradesh where we can see that the migrants who have come by foot were poured disinfectants fearing that they had any covid-19 infection, a similar attempt was done in Kerala with soap water.

In wake of so many developments’s the Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath has requested the PM to take note on the matter and assist students as well as migrant workers in this tough time.
